Financial Reserves Policy

There is no written policy.  The Board does create reserves for future contingencies such as the purchase of new equipment and as an operating reserve.

Revenue Sources

The main source of revenue for the Stinson Beach Fire Protection District is from property tax collected by the County of Marin.

In March or April the County provides an estimate of revenue for the tax year. We receive 55% of our funds in December, 40% the following April and the balance between April and June, after true-up.

There is also a grant of approximately $7,000 tagged the “Burton Funds”.  This money must be used to provide fire equipment or supplies.
