Fire Chief - Jesse Peri

Jesse is a lifelong resident of Stinson Beach. He attended Tamalpias High School and graduated with honors from the University of Michigan. He pursued technical education in public safety at Santa Rosa Jr College and the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care.

Professionally, Jesse started his career as a volunteer for Stinson Beach Fire under Chief Kenny Stevens. He gained further experience as an ocean lifeguard for the National Park Service and worked as a Firefighter Paramedic for the Marin County Fire Department. Jesse is passionate about education and has played a significant role in establishing and revitalizing programs like the Stinson Beach Junior Lifeguard Program and the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care Paramedic Skills Program.

Jesse now resides on the hill with his wife Colette and their son Nico, actively engaging with the community. He serves on the boards of the community center, historical society and village association. During his free time, Jesse enjoys surfing, family hiking, biking, watching premier league football, and playing town wiffleball!

With one foot firmly planted in the history of the volunteer fire department and another in the modern fire service, Jesse brings a unique blend of local tradition and innovation to the District. Jesse is dedicated to ensuring the community's safety and is proud to serve as Fire Chief.

Senior Captain - Nicholas Ferrari

Nick Ferrari is currently the Senior Captain for the Stinson Beach Fire Protection District and supervises Volunteer Firefighters and Professional Engineers at an operational level and has various administrative responsibilities. Nick grew up in the neighboring town of Bolinas and currently lives in Stinson Beach. He began his training as a Volunteer with the National Park Service as a junior lifeguard in 2003 which transitioned into employment with the National Park Service, Bolinas Fire Protection District, and Stinson Beach Fire Protection District. When not working he can be found taking full advantage of the great outdoors with hobbies such as surfing, mountain biking, riding motorcycles, hiking, and fishing.

Captain - Wills Kelly

Wills started with Stinson Beach Fire as a volunteer and rose to the rank of Volunteer Fire Captain and later on as a Stinson Beach Duty Officer.

While working for our District, Wills also served as a seasonal Firefighter Paramedic for Marin County Fire. In 2018, he joined Marinwood Fire full-time as a Firefighter Paramedic and relocated to Gualala, gaining further experience and expertise.

We are thrilled to have Wills back. His local knowledge of Stinson Beach, along with the skills he has developed at Marinwood, Marin County Fire, and now Coast Life Support will be a tremendous asset to our team.

We look forward to the leadership and expertise he will bring.

Fire Apparatus Engineer - Chris Medley-Pole

Chris Medley-Pole works as an Engineer and EMT for Stinson Beach Fire Protection District. Prior to his current position with Stinson Chris's professional background includes a career in film and visual effects production. He then transitioned to fire fighting and emergency medical services holding positions with Marin County Fire, the U.S. Forest Service, and private ambulance services. Chris enjoys spending his free time in the outdoors enjoying Marin and the High Sierra. Chris has lived with his wife in San Anselmo for 12 years and looks forward to serving the residents of Stinson and surrounding communities for many years to come.

Captain - Boone Vale

Boone Vale came to Stinson with 27 years experience as a volunteer firefighter, 17 of those as a Captain, at Bodega VFD.

Additionally he worked 2 years as a FAE/officer at Gold Ridge Fire Protection District. During wild land season Boone operates dozer as a contractor, on large incidents.

Looking forward, Boone is excited to become certified and proficient in ocean rescue, a unique aspect of Stinson Beach Fire.

Fire Apparatus Engineer - Brice Briare

Brice is originally from Nicasio and grew up in Novato. He’s a San Marin High School alumi, and played college baseball as a pitcher at Sierra College. Brice later on obtained EMT and Fire Technology certificate. After finishing a 6 month internship with Nevada City Fire Dept. Brice worked as a seasonal firefighter at Marin County Fire Dept. for 6 fire seasons.

Board of Directors

The Stinson Beach Fire Protection District is governed by a five member Board of Directors. Board Directors are elected by the residents and serve four-year terms. Board members must live within the Fire District boundaries. The SBFPD Board of Directors meets on the fourth Monday of each month at the Headquarters Fire Station located at 3410 Shoreline Hwy in Stinson Beach.

Directors

Jeffrey R. Walsh (2020-2024) Jeff Walsh has been a resident of Stinson Beach since 2003 and became a member of the Board in 2017. He practiced law in San Francisco beginning in 1971. He graduated from the University of Portland and the Georgetown University Law Center. He acquired fire fighting skills while serving in the U.S. Merchant Marine.

James R. Ritchie (2020-2024) Jim Ritchie has served on the Fire Board since 2015 and lives in the town. He is retired, having previously served terms with the Marin County Superior Court, several San Francisco law firms, and the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Stinson Beach Volunteer Fire Department for several years in the 1980s, before resigning to spend more time with his family.

Robert Guidi (2020-2024) - Rob Guidi is a third generation Marin county native. He graduated from Sonoma State University with a Criminal Justice degree. After a 32 year career in law enforcement, he retired as the Chief Inspector for the Marin County District Attorney’s Office. Rob and his wife moved to Stinson Beach in 2011, and Rob is the Panoramic Area Lead for the Stinson Beach Disaster Corps.

Mark White (2022-2026) For more than 15 years, long time Stinson Beach resident Marcus White served the town as a postal clerk, or in his words, “the postal guy”. He was proud to serve as a volunteer firefighter and volunteer EMT for 25 years. He also serves on the MWPA Board, CSA 33, the local governing body of our Village Greens as well as being President of the Stinson Beach Historical Society, and is the Hill and Highlands Area Lead for the Stinson Beach Disaster Corps.

Sean Greene (2022 - 2026) Sean moved to Stinson Beach in 1985. He and his wife, Tess raised two children here: Annie and Milan. Sean went to a 4 year union trade school after high school and was in the sheet metal workers Local 104 for 13 years. He left the union in `1990 to start his own business, Verde Metals Inc., which he currently operates in San Rafael. In addition to his Board duties, Sean is an active member of the Stinson Beach Disaster Corps.

Elections

Fire District elections are managed by the Marin County Elections office. Board members are elected or re-elected every four years during the Uniform District Elections in November. The terms of office are four-year, staggered terms. SBFPD Board Directors must live within the District boundaries.

REIMBURSEMENT & COMPENSATION POLICY

Board members receive no compensation. There is no administrative reimbursement policy. Any reimbursement for expenditures is brought to the attention of the Board for their consideration. Information on annual compensation of Board of Directors can be found on the publicpay.ca.gov website under Elected Officials.

ETHICS & TRAINING CERTIFICATES

Members of the Board of Directors have participated in ethics and sexual harassment prevention training. Requests for digital copies (PDFs) of the completion certificates for AB 1234 Ethics Training Compliance and AB 1666 Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for any of the directors can be submitted to the Stinson Beach Fire Department Administrative Office at info@stinsonbeachfire.org.
