10/20/2025. Stinson Beach Fire joins the Marin County Fire Department to honor the life and service of Fire Engineer Breanna Buchanan Brown, a dedicated member of our fire family whose professionalism, compassion, and commitment to service left an enduring mark on all who knew her.

Breanna began her career with Marin County Fire in June 1998 as a Seasonal Firefighter, earning recognition early on for her strong work ethic and devotion to her crew. She became a Regular Firefighter on June 25, 2000, and continued her distinguished service until her retirement as a Fire Engineer on June 16, 2016.

A proud C Shifter and Bolinas Volunteer firefighter, Breanna embodied the very best of what it means to serve. Her enthusiasm, strength, and compassion set the tone for those around her, and she was known for lifting spirits no matter the challenge. Deeply committed to her crew and the greater firefighting family, Breanna poured her energy into building connection and taking care of others.

Those who worked alongside Breanna remember her humor, integrity, and fierce loyalty to her team. She brought heart and strength to every role she held and every person she encountered.

Breanna will forever remain a cherished member of the Marin County Fire family. Her legacy of service, kindness, and camaraderie will continue to inspire us all.

Why are the SBFPD flags flown at half staff?

The Stinson Beach Fire Protection District flies its flags at half staff for:

  • Presidential or Gubernatorial orders

  • Memorial Day

  • Death of a member of the Stinson Beach Community

If you would like the flags be flown at Half Staff to honor the life of a community member, an immediate family member must make this request by writing to info@stinsonbeachfire.org.

Once the request has been made, the flag will be flown at half-staff for 4 days, and the name of the deceased will be posted here.
